A Week in the Life: Mahdokht

I feel very connected to my work at Accountability. I have a professional background in finance from outside the UK, so naturally I was nervous about starting a job here - but the minute I entered the workplace Rosie eased me into the new environment. After an induction week getting to know the team and Accountability’s processes, I set to work!

I start a typical day by checking client inboxes to process their bills and invoices and responding to their enquiries. I have been given a portfolio of four clients so far and have now established a routine to look after their accounts regularly. Working with clients from various backgrounds is an incredible learning opportunity, as each one brings their own set of requirements and challenges to the table.

Since starting at Accountability, I've earned Xero, Float, and Fathom software certifications. These have provided me with the right skillset to perform my daily tasks with ease and a higher level of efficiency. I’ve also had weekly meetings with my manager to discuss work and other things – and it feels great to be supported.

A part of each month is dedicated to preparing the management reports for my clients. What I do is produce a set of analytical reports on their accounts that highlight any areas of concern, and offer advice on how to improve these areas. This will help the clients understand their overall financial position. I present the reports to the client, noting the positive and negative patterns as well as any changes from the previous periods.

At Accountability it’s not all work and no play! We don’t miss any opportunity for a bit of workplace fun. We hold regular lunchtime socials - anything from quizzes to discussing life hacks and costume parties (see below!) We also recently had a Team Day where everyone came into the office, played games, ate together and discussed our service provision and Accountability’s business plan. It was a whole new experience for me, and helped me bond with the team.

Until next time!
